SAFINA was founded in 1971, initially specialized in the production of carpets, rugs and runners. Over time, Safina has extended its activity to areas of extrusion of synthetic yarn and carpet manufacturing in coconut fiber. In 1996 began the manufacture and marketing of decorative artificial grass, extending the business in 2006 for the manufacture of sports and landscape artificial grass .
The company headquarters are in Cortegaça - Ovar, having manufacturing facilities with approximately 15,000 m2 and a staff of 75 skilled people.
The artificial grass is currently the biggest segment of the company's business. In this context, Safina is one of the most important players in the Iberian Peninsula, having begun in recent years exports to other European markets and North Africa.
Recently, the Company was certified according to the Certification of Quality Management System of the company's ISO9001:2008 and has achieved a broader plan to modernize the systems and manufacturing technologies (global investment of over € 5 million in the period 2008-2011) .
In 2009 Safina won 38 soccer fields in the Municipality of Braga, to be delivered in 2009 and 2010. Safina has also supplied several soccer fields in Spain and North Africa, and was able to extend the network of distributors in that countries, both in number and in regional representation.
